What Are Regions?

Regions are groups of teams playing against each other in the competition. Every team is assigned a region. The region they are assigned depends on their geographic location, which is based on the location. Regions can either be US states or any country in the world.

Regions are assigned on October 25. New teams that sign up to the League after October 25 will be assigned a region within 24 hours of signing up.

A region must include at least 32 teams from at least two different schools/organizations. In the case that not enough teams join a certain region, the region will not open and instead these teams will be assigned to either the International region / US Open region, depending on their location (US teams will go to US open, teams from other parts in the world will join the International region).

A few examples:

If only 31 teams from California join the competition, the “California” region will not open and instead all 31 teams will be assigned to the “US Open” region. If 32 teams from California join, the “California” region will open and all those teams will be assigned to it.

If 35 teams from Singapore join the competition, the “Singapore” region will open with all 35 teams in it; otherwise (if 31 or less teams from Singapore join), these teams will be assigned to the International region.

And that's it! We hope this helps make a bit more sense of the issue. To learn more about regions please refer to the User Guide.
